The origins of Zenith SA began in 1865 when Georges Favre-Jacot founded Georges Favre-Jacot & Co. in Le Locle. The brand is widely considered among the earliest fully integrated Swiss watch manufacturers. The Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair was awarded to the Zenith movement, and Georges Favre-Jacot & Co. was renamed after the movement in 1911. Zenith began working on an automatic chronograph movement after purchasing movement manufacturer Martel in 1959, eventually resulting in the El Primero movement.
Zenith is currently owned by LVMH, alongside brands like TAG Heuer, Hublot, and Bulgari.
Carl Cox
British DJ, motorsport team owner, and Isle of Man TT charity ambassador Carl Cox has worked with Zenith to release the DEFY 21 Carl Cox Edition (limited to 200 pieces) in 2020, and the DEFY Extreme Carl Cox Limited Edition in 2023 (limited to 100 pieces). Cox’s personal logo, which features prominently within the Carl Cox Motorsport branding identity, appeared on both models.
