Seiko traces its origins back to 1881, when Kintaro Hattori opened a watch and jewelry store in Tokyo under the name K. Hattori. Eleven years later, in 1892, Hattori began manufacturing clocks through a company known as Seikosha. The brand eventually adopted the Seiko trademark in 1924.
Today, Seiko is a widely recognized name even beyond the world of watch enthusiasts, and it also holds the notable achievement of introducing the first commercially available quartz watch in 1969.
Team Hailwood Martini and Mike Hailwood
Seiko branding appeared on the Team Hailwood Martini TZ250 and TZ750 at the 1978 Isle of Man TT. Hailwood also wore leathers with a Seiko logo in 1978 and 1979.
