The Ingersoll Watch Company was founded by Robert H. Ingersoll and his brother Charles Ingersoll in 1892. Originally based in New York City, the brand’s early timepieces were supplied by the Waterbury Clock Company.
After going bankrupt in 1921 and purchased by the Waterbury Clock Company in 1982, the Ingersoll Watch Company became a British-owned in the process. From that point, the brand’s watches would be produced by the Waterbury Clock Company, which later became Timex, until the 1950s.
The Ingersoll Watch Company has been owned by Zeon since 1989.
Team Ingersoll Heron Suzuki
The Ingersoll Watch Company was announced as a sponsor of Heron Suzuki in 1981, which had also competed at the Isle of Man TT that year. Graeme Crosby notably won the TT Formula One race on an Ingersoll-branded Suzuki GS1000, while Senior TT winner Mick Grant and teammate Keith Huewen raced Ingersoll-branded Suzuki XR34 M1 machinery.
