Breitling SA was founded by watchmaker and businessman Léon Breitling in 1884. Originally based in Saint-Imier, the brand was later run by the founder’s son Gaston and grandson Willy. After production was halted in 1978 as a result of the quartz crisis, aviation enthusiast Ernst Schneider purchased the Breitling name in 1979. The brand has been owned by Partners Group since 2022, and currently based in Grenchen, Switzerland.
Norton
Breitling branding featured on Norton machinery at the Isle of man TT in 2018 and 2019, although the watch brand’s participation in the famous race has been described as “passive”. While Breitling did release the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Norton Edition in 2019, the model is not TT-specific.
